En tragisk ulykke, store sikkerhedsudfordringer og et enormt br\u00e6ndstofforbrug satte det til slut p\u00e5 jorden og siden da har passagererne ikke haft mulighed for at booke afgange med supersoniske fly. Men nu vil Boeing lave om p\u00e5 det. De har netop afsl\u00f8ret planerne for et nyt fly, som skal kunne flyve med 5 gange lydens hastighed.<\/strong><br \/>\nBoeing afsl\u00f8rede planerne tidligere p\u00e5 ugen ved den \u00e5rlige American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics konference i Atlanta. Planerne er at flyet skal kunne bruges b\u00e5de til kommercielle og milit\u00e6re form\u00e5l.<br \/>\nBoeing har besluttet sig for at arbejde videre med en model af flyet, som kan flyve op til MACH 5 &#8211; dvs. fem gange lydens hastighed. Hurtigere fly vil kr\u00e6ve en helt anden teknologi og dermed ogs\u00e5 blive meget dyrere at bygge. Desuden vurderer Boeing at denne hastighed er mere end hurtig nok til at opfylde kunderne behov for at flyve tur\/retur over f.eks. Atlanten samme dag. En flyvning fra Europa til \u00d8stkysten i USA vil kunne g\u00f8res p\u00e5 omkring 2 timer med det nye fly.<br \/>\nBoeing har endnu ikke besluttet sig for st\u00f8rrelsen p\u00e5 flyet, som heller ikke har et navn endnu, men iflg. en talsmand fra selskabet, s\u00e5 er planerne at det skal v\u00e6re st\u00f8rre end en businessjet, men mindre end f.eks. en 737. Det betyder i praksis at det m\u00e5 forventes at flyet f\u00e5r mellem 20 og 100 s\u00e6der. Til sammenligning havde Concorden omkring 100 s\u00e6der.<br \/>\nDet nye fly vil f\u00e5 en flyveh\u00f8jde p\u00e5 95.000 fod, hvilket er cirka en tredjedel h\u00f8jere end Concorden og omkring 60.000 fod h\u00f8jere end et normalt passagerfly.<br \/>\nDen h\u00f8jere flyveh\u00f8jde udnytter motorerne bedst muligt og holder tubulens p\u00e5 et minimum da luften er meget tyndere s\u00e5 h\u00f8jt over jordens overflade.<br \/>\nBoeing forventer at oplevelsen ved takeoff vil blive noget anderledes end i et normalt fly, da passagererne vil kunne m\u00e6rke de s\u00e5kaldte G-kr\u00e6fter i hele 12 minutter inden flyet n\u00e5r sin optimale hastighed. Til sammenligning, s\u00e5 er det normalt at m\u00e6rke det i omkring 30 sekunder i et normalt fly.<br \/>\nFlyproducenten forventer dog ikke at det er lige om hj\u00f8rnet flyselskaberne f\u00e5r mulighed for at transportere passagerer i det nye fly. De forventer at der vil g\u00e5 hele 20 til 30 \u00e5r inden et s\u00e5dant fly kan v\u00e6re i kommcerciel trafik.
